On behalf of For Youth Initiative (FYI), we are happy to announce that the 2016 Power of One was a great success.The event raised over $27,000 and will go a long way in supporting its programs and services.

The event was generously hosted and catered by Paintbox Bistro & Catering and featured a live DJ, a silent auction with great items and a photobooth with fun props. This year, we were honoured to have Tashauna Reid, CBC Arts & Entertainment Reporter, join us and host the event. She warmed our hearts with her personal Power of One story and guided the night with her friendly and charming personality. Executive Director Shaneeza Nazseer Ally also provided us with some highlights about For Youth Initiative’s programs and services and some thought-provoking remarks about the current needs of York ­South-Weston. The formal program then closed with youth performers Cadesha Williams and Zauwana Hollingsworth who enchanted us with their beautiful voices. Both of these young ladies are active participants in For Youth Initiative’s programs. Zauwana is frequently in the FYI studio and Cadesha is a member of the Y.E.A. (Youth Engagement Advisory) Committee.
